Virtual US 7-12

Classroom Spelling Bees took place last week in grades 5-8 here at the Founders' Campus. Winners from each grade will compete on Friday, 1/22/21 in a grade level, schoolwide Bee 11:30-1:00 p.m. Zoom link was sent to each participant's parents.

Here are the results; 

Grade 7: Miyah Derrickson, Ryder Roehm, Angelia Schmerr and Marcus Sheanshang.

Grade 8: Joi Burton, Luke Faircloth, Lizzy Farrell, Michael Mitchell, Joey Rusnak, Austin Tran, DJ Wojiechowski.

Not to any specific event or anything, but just in general, please RSVP. When your child gets invited to an event or activity or a party with a friend, please RSVP. And then, if you do RSVP that your child is coming, please make sure they show up. I know that for us adults it might not seem like that big of a deal, and we might just think it has to do with how many cups or paper plates someone needs to buy, but for our students, particularly the younger ones, it is of colossal importance.

Encourage your student to join in the UNDIVIDED group Thursdays during activity bell. Mr. Wells is leading us through the Crossroads Church curriculum using history, the Bible, and the power of our community to tackle difficult questions about race, racism, and injustice. 

We are overwhelmed by the stories of generosity and kindness demonstrated by our school community. You blew us away. Over 3,200 cookies and 450 sandwiches were delivered to four homeless shelters, a seventy minute music video was made for nursing homes by over twenty student entries, and many other stories abound. Students, if you have not loaded your weekend service activities into InnerView, please do so by Sunday, 1/23/21. We will be preparing certificates and awards early next week.

This month, SOS Bridge the Gap will be sending 230 homemade cards to the Lodge Retirement Community as a fun Valentine's Day surprise! Cards should be handmade with materials like construction paper or cardstock. Bedazzle it with markers, stickers, and hearts and include an optimistic, fun note inside (i.e. a Valentine's Day joke, a personal anecdote, etc.) The minimum number of cards is 6 per person so that we can reach our goal of 230 cards. Understanding poverty training will be held on Tuesday, 1/26/21, 2:45-4:15 p.m. and Tuesday, 2/16/21, 2:45 – 4:15 p.m. in the High School cafeteria.  Attendance is required to fulfill your 1 day Cincinnati Service Immersion credit.  Register online at: https://my.innerview.org/
