Show Description

Disney’s Finding Nemo KIDS is a 30-minute musical adaptation of the beloved 2003 Pixar movie Finding Nemo, with new music by award-winning songwriting team Kristen Anderson-Lopez and Robert Lopez. Marlin, an anxious and over-protective clownfish, lives in the Great Barrier Reef with his kid Nemo, who longs to explore the world beyond their anemone home. But when Nemo is captured and taken to Sydney, Marlin faces his fears and sets off on an epic adventure across the ocean. With the help of lovable characters such as optimistic Dory, laid-back sea turtle Crush, and the supportive Tank Gang, Marlin and Nemo both overcome challenges on their journey to find each other and themselves. Featuring memorable songs such as “Just Keep Swimming,” “Fish Are Friends Not Food,” and “Go With the Flow,” Finding Nemo KIDS brings a vibrant underwater world to life on stage in a story full of family, friendship, and adventure.

Rehearsal Information

Rehearsals are Monday, Wednesday, and Friday from 3:30-5:00 p.m. except production week which is daily (see rehearsal calendar available in August for more details). 
Students not picked up by 5:00 p.m. will be sent to Eagle Zone and charged a fee.
Students should bring their own snack and water bottle to rehearsal and meet where rehearsal takes place (usually the Choir Room or UE Cafeteria).
Cast members are expected to be at all required rehearsals. 
If your student MUST miss a rehearsal (other than dates specified during your original registration), you MUST notify director at CHCAMusical4-5@CHCA-OH.ORG BEFORE the fact. Multiple absences may jeopardize your student’s role even if they are prearranged and excused.

Parent Information

Mandatory Show fees:
- Cast - $60 Includes specialty costume fee, t-shirt and cast party. Students are asked to supply basic costume pieces (if possible): personal makeup and shoes.
- All cast members must sell 10 tickets total. Tickets are ordered and tracked via ShowTix4U (CHCA’s online box office). You must pay for unsold tickets, 10 maximum at $10 each, if you haven’t met your requirement by the deadline.
- During online registration, you schedule a future automatic payment deducted after the show is cast and the first rehearsal is held.
- Cast fees are paid online via UltraCamp.

Parent Volunteer Expectations: Each family is required to serve a minimum of 6 volunteer hours. You will complete a volunteer form during registration that will ask your volunteer preferences. There are many areas to serve, such as costumes, props, communication, cast party, set builds, box office, and more. It takes a village to put on an excellent production!
During online registration, primary and secondary parent contact information is required. All parent communication is communicated via the two emails provided. All important messages will be communicated via email so please check it frequently to stay informed! Pease add CHCAMusical4-5@chca-oh.org to your contacts.

Auditions are required for all cast roles.

Scene Audition - 3 Script Excerpts
Become familiar with these excerpts and practice reading them for different with characters. You may be asked to read for several different roles in the audition. Ask a parent or friend to read with you as you practice.
- You DO NOT need to memorize this for auditions. 
- You can print out a copy to bring with you, but we will also have extra copies at auditions. 
- Be aware that you may also be asked to read pages you have not seen yet. This is called a “cold reading.”

B. Sign Up to Audition

Complete your online registration in Ultracamp. This single registration indicates your audition intention and handles your ARSA (Audition Request and Student Agreement) including scheduling future payment of cast fees and Parent Volunteer forms.
All auditions are live, and there is only one day and one time for auditions. You need to be there for the ENTIRE audition time.

If selected by a director for the in-person callbacks, you will receive next steps. (There may not be a need for callbacks, but plan for them in your schedule just in case.)

Biography:
Mara Wright started her career with Cincinnati Hills Christian Academy and has taught 4th grade for 20+ years. Her theatre involvement began with the 4th Grade Christmas Musicals, where she primarily helped with choreography and backstage duties. As her daughter became involved in theatre, she contributed to CHCA middle and upper grade productions and outside theatre groups including Rise Up Performing Arts and Acting Up. In 2019, Mrs. Wright directed the theatre program's inaugural Gr 4-5 show, Jungle Book Kids. In 2000, she added Assistant Director for the Gr 6-8 musical under the director, Anna Brink. Mara loves all things theatre and is thankful for the amazing opportunity to start kids out in the theatre program here at CHCA.
