CHCA’s Athletics Department is pleased to announce the hiring of new girls’ varsity basketball head coach, Corneisha Morris.
Morris is former NCAA Division I player and member of the Princeton High School’s 2014 OHSAA Girls Basketball State Championship team. Last year, Morris served as Princeton’s freshman Head Coach. Prior to that, she was a Varsity Assistant as well as the Junior Varsity Head Coach at Middletown High School. She was also a coach with the Cincy Shock AAU team.
“We are extremely excited to bring Corneisha on board to lead our girls’ basketball program. She will be active among all levels of the program with a focus on development at the younger levels.” shares Executive Director of Athletics, Bryan Fetzer. “In the search process, everyone we spoke with used words like ‘relational,’ ‘driven,’ and ‘passionate’ to describe her. Those words mean a lot when thinking about what we want our coaches to embody.”
Of this new opportunity, Morris shares, “First, I would like to give honor to God who is the head of my life. It is truly an honor to be named as the Varsity Girls' Basketball Head Coach of CHCA. I am excited to bring my talents to a Christian school like CHCA, which has had a long-standing history of competing at a high level academically and athletically. I look forward to fostering relationships with the school community at large and coaching the athletes in the ways of giving back.”
Morris’ life verse is Jeremiah 29:11 - “For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the LORD, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.”
What the basketball community has to say about Coach Morris:
“Corneisha is the person for this job for so many reasons. She understands the foundational work needed to be laid to make this girls’ basketball program what it is intended to be. She has an unbelievable IQ for the game as well as a heart made of gold. With that said, she can and will be that shoulder young girls can lean on, both on and off the basketball court. Her journey up until this point has made her to be what CHCA Girls’ Basketball needs today. She both values and demands hard work, respect, and accountability for herself and those around her.” – Kelsey Mitchell (Former Ohio State & Current WNBA Professional Player)
“I had the privilege of meeting Corneisha her freshman year in college where I served as one of her position coaches and now am a life-long mentor of hers. She is a very determined, purpose-driven, and fearless young lady who loves God and her family. We have remained close since her college days, and I am so proud of her and all that she has been able to accomplish since our first meeting. Corneisha is well versed in the game of basketball, as well as life. She has displayed an example of what a servant leader should look like, and I am sure this is one of the attributes she will pass on to her players and staff. CHCA is getting a “precious gem” in Corneisha, and I can’t wait to see what she does with the CHCA girls’ basketball program!” – Chante Crutchfield (LSU Assistant Director for Women's Basketball Operations/Recruiting)
“Corneisha is more than deserving of this opportunity, and I look forward to following her success at CHCA! She will be greatly missed by our players and staff but we all fully support Coach on this journey and wish her nothing but the best!” – Dee Davis (Princeton Girls’ Basketball Head Coach & former WNBA player)
“Corneisha is a bright young coach who cares deeply for her players. Corneisha will bring a tireless work ethic that will be infectious to the point that it will empower the CHCA young women to do great things on and off the court!” – Mark Mitchell (Wilberforce University Men’s Head Basketball Coach)
