Cincinnati Hills Christian Academy’s Beak Squad Robotics Teams in both Upper and Lower Schools have had quite a successful run this season! Upper School just returned from Worlds and Lower School is Headed to Words.
The Upper School Beak Squad recently returned from the World Championship in Houston, Texas. The team competed in the Archimedes Division, one of the toughest divisions. After working hard for every point, the team was ranked 17 at the end of Qualifications and were selected to join the #3 Alliance for Division Semi-Finals. A shocking upset of the #1 and #2 Alliances, plus a solid strategy by the Beak Squad resulted in their Alliance facing off for the Division Final. The Beak Squad won the final match, but fell just shy of winning the Archimedes Division Title. They were awarded the Industrial Design Award!
The Upper School Beak Squad ends their season as #1 in Ohio (of 55 teams), #22 in the United States (of 2,687 teams), and #26 Worldwide (of 3,294 teams). “Our students achieved far above and beyond what was hoped for,” shared CHCA Beak Squad Head Coach Sarah Hendrix. “The Beak Squad represented ourselves and our community with honor and integrity.”
Heading to Worlds this weekend in Dallas, Texas is the Grades 5-6 Beak Squad, who earned their way by competing at State a few weeks ago. “Our Upper Elementary Beak Squad excelled this year,” shared CHCA Teacher and Lead Robotics Coach Rebeca Hardy. “Each squad on our team has put in countless hours beyond typical practices. They have truly earned their place to compete at the VEX IQ World Championship!” We can’t wait to see what they accomplish.
