Cincinnati Hills Christian Academy is thrilled to announce the hiring of CHCA’s new Student Life Director, Joe Metzger. This new Upper School position will oversee all club activities, student government, social events, and overall school spirit and community culture. He will also help facilitate smooth transitions for Gr 9-12 students who are new to CHCA.
Upper School Principal Heather Wilkowski shares, "Joe’s faith and love for others, combined with his keen ability to create activities that connect people from all walks of life, make him a great fit for this new role."
Metzger is no stranger to CHCA’s culture, having grown up in the household of a CHCA faculty member, and serving as CHCA’s JV Men’s Basketball coach since 2019. His history of student leadership is what makes him a standout for this new role. He ran student spirit for one of the largest public high schools in the state during his high school career, and during his college days at the University of Cincinnati, he was a leader and an instrumental player in the growth of his fraternity.
Metzger was also highly involved in leadership of the Athletes in Action student group. Dave McDowell, Vice President of Development at Athletes in Action, and his wife Jenn, share this about him: “Joe is an extreme gatherer and encourager of people! In over 30 years of full-time ministry, we have never met a person who connects so well with as many different people as Joe. He will be such a great addition to the culture of CHCA and in the lives of students. He will lead them spiritually and encourage them in the Lord! He will make a difference at the school and in the lives of students and families!”
Metzger has an outgoing personality and has been working in sales for the past three years, before making the decision to transition to this unique role. He desires to come alongside our students to reinvigorate the culture and accelerate individual growth.
Of this new opportunity, Metzger shares, “I am extremely excited to begin to build into the young people of CHCA and to further CHCA's mission to Learn, Lead and Serve."
This role fits within the newly formed Student Life Department, which will now be the hub of all student activities at CHCA. In addition to Mr. Metzger, this department will also include Student Organized Service under the direction of Karen Hordinski and Spiritual Life under Chaplain Jordan Kramer.
“When I first took over the role of Upper School Principal, one of my primary focuses was to take student engagement to the next level at CHCA. To be able to see this vision of a Student Life Department come to fruition is just so exciting. All these key components housed in one department will not only enable great possibilities for collaboration, but it will also provide a natural synergy among these groups as we continue to graduate students who Learn, Lead, and Serve throughout the world,” adds Wilkowski.
