We have an exciting new addition to our school as of early May. As part of the garden expansion and farm-to-school efforts of the Entrepreneurship and Sustainability Program, egg-laying chickens will be located next to the raised bed gardens between EBL and Founders’ Campuses. The chicken program is an outgrowth of a capstone project completed by three of our graduating seniors as part of the Entrepreneurship Certificate Program. Not only will the chickens be a fun addition to our school, but the eggs will be used in our soon-to-be-expanded Teaching Kitchen program.
To make the arrival of the chickens even more exciting, we hosted a raffle for six lucky students to be able to name a chicken at an official chicken naming ceremony on 5/13. Proceeds from the raffle will go towards the cost of the chicken coop and the ongoing upkeep of the chickens.
The names were extremely creative and fun. Thanks to all supported these efforts through the raffle!
