Enter the grounds of any of CHCA’s four campuses and you will find the parking lots cleared, the school clean and ready to welcome faculty, staff, and students.
Led by CHCA’s Facilities Lead Howard Harmon, the tdg Facilities Services team works behind the scenes at CHCA with a very long list of duties that may be taken for granted. This includes everything from general maintenance repairs (think heating and cooling, electrical, roofs, windows, and more), to maintenance (to name just a few - snow and ice removal, landscaping, painting, flooring, and custodial work that has been critical during COVID), to ensuring safe facilities (playgrounds, gyms, sports field prep, fire inspections, etc.), to completing dozens of special requests daily across campuses (classroom and office moves, installations, construction, Open House prep, putting up banners, and much more). They even ensure our Upper School students get safely to and from the Auxiliary Parking Lot each morning and afternoon. Their work is critical to our operations and to the safety of our students, faculty, and staff.
It is no surprise that these jobs are anything but 9-5. Many of the tdg staff put in hours well past the typical workday as their team is on call 24 hours a day for emergencies (think snow, ice, COVID cleaning…). As practices, games, rehearsals, and performances finish up in the evenings, the crew is there to clean up and make sure everything is set for a brand-new school day.
Thank you to Maintenance & Grounds Director Mr. Mark Bishop, Mr. Howard Harmon, and their entire crew for taking such good care of CHCA!
