Why would two CHCA Dance Academy students and a teacher take time from their busy schedules to travel all the way to Olathe, Kansas? For a very good cause that was pulling on their hearts--a dance performance benefiting ministries that fight human trafficking. These two remarkable ladies are Lexi Achterberg '23 and former CHCA student Uma Georgeton, led by the Dance Academy Director, Anna Leithart. 

The two-day program, called "Songs of Deliverance," featured 12 unique performances put together by professional and preprofessional dancers from Kansas, Texas, and Ohio. The benefit was put on by The Maranatha Arts Collective to raise funds and awareness for ministries that help women escape the trafficking industry, find homes and recovery programs, and get connected with ongoing employment. It took place 11/18/22 - 11/19/22. 

Uma's mom, Kim Georgeton, says, "This was transformative for Uma and Lexi as they connected their passion of dance with action for the community around them...This performance will remain top of mind as they journey into their next chapters of life using their gifts of dance as He intends."

CHCA Dance Academy Director Anna Leithart says, "It was cool for the girls to get to work with some professionals and see their humility and desire to use their craft for such a powerful purpose."

Lexi and Uma performed "His Eye Is On the Sparrow," choreographed by Anna. What a beautiful demonstration of God's hope, grace, and love in action!
