During our Atmosphere unit, the fourth graders will walk (following the homecoming path) to the Green House at the CHCA High School campus. Students will have the opportunity to observe a man-made Greenhouse that acts like the natural Greenhouse found in our atmosphere. We will discuss the components of a Green House and both the challenges and benefits of creating and running a Green House.

Ohio Supreme Court and the National Veterans Memorial and Museum in Columbus, Ohio


Students will be visiting the Ohio Supreme Court as well as the National Veterans Memorial and Museum in Columbus, Ohio.

Cost per student: $25

Students and chaperones should bring a disposable packed lunch and a beverage

Students must wear their uniforms.

Cincinnati Art Museum

CHCA Field Trips are designed to connect students with our curriculum. After reading "From the Mixed-up Files of Mrs. Basil E. Frankweiler", we will replicate the museum visit of the main characters in the story. We will see many works of art that are similar to the ones seen by the main characters and see other works by some of the famous artists in the story. This is a wonderful text-to-world connection.

Cost per student: $9

Students and Chaperones should bring bring a disposable packed lunch and beverage.
Students must wear their uniforms.

National Underground Railroad Freedom Center

CHCA Field Trips are designed to connect students with our curriculum. This trip will cover the triangular trade route and explore the beginning of slavery in North America. Students will watch the film "Brothers of the Borderland" and discuss the economic and human impact of slavery. The day will begin with a trip to Smale Park prior to the Freedom Center visit.

Cost per student: $20

Students and chaperones will be having pizza and a beverage for lunch (cost included in field trip fee).

Students must wear their uniforms.

CHCA Field Trips are designed to connect students with our curriculum. Students will visit the Nancy and David Wolf Holocaust and Humanity Center at the Cincinnati Museum Center as a culminating activity to our Quarter 3 Language Arts unit. They will tour the museum and hear a Holocaust survivor story firsthand or from a close relative of a survivor.

Students should pack a disposable lunch and wear school uniforms. No chaperones are needed for this trip.

Cost per student: $15

Gr 4 6 icon All Gr 6 Choir Sing in the City Field Trip

Esther Marie Hatton Center for Women (2499 Reading Road, Mt. Auburn)

The Sixth Grade Choirs at North campus and Armleder perform for residents at this women's homeless shelter and the along the Vine Street business/restaurant district in Over-the-Rhine. There are a couple of wonderful places to indulge in a treat-Holtman's Donuts and Graeter's along 13th and Vine.

We are so excited to share the everlasting hope and light of Christ to our city with the powerful tool of music! Joy to the City! Let heaven and nature (and the sixth graders) sing!!!

Cost per student: $0 but please send $5 treat money with your student.

Students and Chaperones should bring a disposable packed lunch and beverage.

Attire: Black bottoms and red, green or white on top. Accessories like scarves, santa hats, jingle bell necklaces, etc. welcome!

CHCA Armleder School

In this new tradition, the Gr 5 Upper E students will spend the entire day learning with their future classmates from Armleder. The goal is for our students to "see" Armleder in a new way and begin to build friendships with their future classmates. A Day at Armleder is the first step in our plan to build stronger relationships between the two buildings as both sets of students prepare to enter the Upper School as peers and classmates.

Following our day of learning at Armleder, phase 2 will involve the Armleder students spending the day here at UE on an TBD date in February. Both staff have worked diligently to prepare an exciting day of learning that will involve a series of station activities.

The students will be placed in groups that will continue through future visits at UE, Field Day near the end of the year, and continuing onto 6th grade camp next fall.

Cost per student: $0, but each students needs a completely disposable lunch that includes a beverage.

Students should wear their uniforms.

CHCA Field Trips are designed to connect students with our curriculum. Students will use inquiry skills, explore animal behavior, and investigate how enrichment helps animals thrive at the zoo.

What's the (State of) Matter?

Students will be doing a learning lab called "What's the State of Matter?" During the lab, students will explore solids, liquids, gases and plasma through fun, bubbly, sticky and electrifying experiments. They will mix different states of matter to create something that isn't quite a solid, liquid, gas or plasma and learn where it fits in the world of matter.
