2022-2023 UE 4-6 Field Trips

UE 6 Matthew 25 Service Field Trip

Matthew 25 Ministries

CHCA Field Trips are designed to connect students with our curriculum.

Students will be bussed to Matthew 25 Ministries where they will take a brief tour and learn more about the organization.
Students will then serve for a couple hours before being transported to Summit Park for a picnic lunch and activities.

What: UE 6 Matthew 25 Service Field Trip

When: 05/25/23 – Departing at 8:15 a.m. Returning by end of school day

What to Wear:  Students may wear spirit wear top with non-uniform but dress code appropriate bottom

What to Bring:  A fully disposable lunch and water bottle

Cost per student: $10 per student

Registration begins 05/01/23 and closes 05/24/23 at 11:59 p.m.

Chaperones: Students will be accompanied by teachers. Chaperones are not needed.

UE 4 Ohio History Connection Field Trip

Ohio History Connection in Columbus, Ohio

CHCA Field Trips are designed to connect students with our curriculum.

We will visit the Ohio History Center, the state's repository for comprehensive collections of materials in the fields of history, prehistory and natural history. It also houses the state's archives and historical library. We will walk the streets of Ohio Village, a reproduction of a small Ohio community during the 1800s. The buildings form the commercial, social and political core of a town and represent several architectural styles of Ohio's history. The furnishings and tools in the various buildings used by the Ohio Villagers are either original pieces or carefully researched reproductions. The buildings and streets set the stage for its citizens to tell the story of the economic, social and political life in Ohio during the 1800s.

What: UE 4 Ohio History Connection Field Trip

When: 05/18/23 - All students and chaperones will ride charter bus leaving CHCA at 8:00 a.m.
  Parents should arrive at Founders’ Campus between 4:50–5:00 p.m. to pick up students.

What to Wear:  Students must be in CHCA uniform
What to Bring:  A fully disposable lunch and beverage and an extra snack. No electronic devices (gaming, entertainment, or cell phones) allowed. Teachers will be in constant contact with the school.

Cost per student/chaperone: $40 per person
 

Registration
begins on 04/17/23 and closes 05/01/23 at 11:59 p.m.  (Late registrations will not be accepted.)

Chaperones: Parent volunteers (limit one per family, please) are allowed. Volunteers must have valid fingerprints on file, ride the charter bus, bring a packed lunch, and pay the registration fee to attend. Spots are limited. Please email Mrs. Lott if you would like to attend. Once confirmed, you will be sent a separate registration link.

Please Note: All volunteers must be fingerprinted prior to contact with students. To make your appointment at the Welcome Center, email Judi.Davis@chca-oh.org.  This 5 minute process requires your driver's license + a 2nd form of identification (passport, SS card, or birth certificate) and is valid for 5 years.

UE 5 Kings Island Education Day

CHCA Field Trips are designed to connect students with our curriculum.

Kings Island transforms into the Midwest’s largest classroom during our Education Days! Students will gain a greater understanding of the science, engineering, and mathematics behind their favorite rides and attractions. Learning is hands-on and interactive through activities such as our Eiffel Tower Egg Drop and COSI SCIENCE LIVE! Students will have the opportunity to learn about the laws of gravity with our interactive Science Spots and compliment their day with our Ohio and CORE standard workbooks.

What: UE 5 Kings Island Education Day
What to Wear:  CHCA Spirit wear top with non-uniform bottom
What to Bring: A disposable packed lunch and beverage
Cost: $40 for non-pass holder; $5 for KI Pass Holder sibmitting season pass copy to Mrs. Lott by 05/01/23)


2 Step Registration:  

1. UltraCamp opens 04/17/23 -  05/01/23 at 11:59 PM (KI requires we are registered and paid in advance so late registrations will not be accepted.)

2. By 05/01/23, season pass holders must send a quality image or photocopy of the season pass to Tami.Lott@chca-oh.org. (Failure to do so will result in cancellation of your trip registration.)

CHCA Field Trips are designed to connect students with our curriculum.
Students will use inquiry skills, explore animal behavior, and investigate how enrichment helps animals thrive at the zoo.

What to Wear:  CHCA uniform (no spirit wear)
What to Bring: A disposable packed lunch and beverage

UE 4 Bridge to Armleder Field Trip 2022-2023 CHANGED: Rescheduled from 01/31/23

CHCA Armleder School

 

 

Students will ride busses to Armleder to meet their AS Gr 4-6 pen pal and practice Place-Based Writing.  “Place-Based Writing” means recognizing that writing is connected to the place, time, and context of our lives.

  With this in mind, students will research the history of Washington Park.
Next, we'll walk to the park for discussion and
a “Sit Spot” writing activity to engage our senses.
When finished we will eat a picnic lunch and play!

$0 but each students needs a completely disposable lunch that includes a beverage.

Uniforms and dress for the weather since we'll be in the park.

UE4 iSpace Field Trip

iSpace Inc., 10020 Reading Road

 

UE 4 students and teachers are bused to iSpace for a day of fun! Students will participate in two sessions:

  1. Rocket Launch: This program begins with Force and Motion presentation with demonstrations to illustrate how and why rockets fly and explain Newton’s Laws of Motion.  All students will then make their own paper rocket and shoot it up to 100 ft. high with our high powered air launchers! The rocket they make is their take-home souvenir from this fun and educational experience.  Subjects: States of Matter, Newton’s Laws of Motion, Physics of Earth & Space, Engineering design process
  2. Engineering Design Challenge: Channel your inner engineer as you inquire, design, build, and redesign to solve an array of problems and challenges! Students become critical thinkers and problem-solvers in this program which encourages innovation and creativity!  Subjects: Engineering Process, Design Requirements & Constraints


Cost:  $20 per student (includes transportation)

All Gr 6 Camp Class Trip 2022
Wilderness Ridge at PVM Retreat Center - Camden, OH (about 1 hour north of CHCA)

 

For students, camp will promote community, empathy, and a vision to serve one another through loving and compassionate behaviors. Your child will experience outdoor chapels, high-adventure programs, nature studies, challenge courses, a campfire and more!  For parents, this is the perfect time to help your child learn to fly solo, under the guidance of the staff and volunteers at camp. The camp is part of the sixth grade curriculum and the expectation is that all students will attend. If problems prevent your student from attending, please contact your building's principal.

What:  All Gr 6 Wilderness Ridge Camp Class Trip 2022

When: 10/12/22 8:00 am – 10/13/22 late afternoon TBD

Cost:  $190 ($75 deposit by 09/01/22; balance on 10/01/22)  Includes all meals, lodging in gender-separated cabins with bunk beds, and programming.

Register Online starting 08/17/22 - closes 09/16/22 at 11:59 p.m.

Complete Wilderness Ridge Waiver by 10/01/22

Chaperones:  Volunteer Signup  To provide the best possible experience for our students, in addition to the Gr 6 teachers who direct all activities and lead the small group discussions, we seek 6-8 male and 6-8 female over-night volunteers + Camp Photographer + pre-camp Snack Bag Packers/Prayer Team

What to Bring: Packing List

Over the Counter or Prescription Medications? Submit a K-12 School Medication Permission form (available in Magnus Health via your Veracross Parent Portal) signed by parent + doctor and any prescription meds that your child will need on the trip to the nurses' office by 09/27/22.

UE5 iSpace iMission Field Trip

iSpace Inc., 10020 Reading Road

 

UE 5 students and teachers are bused to iSpace for a day of fun!

iMISSIONs are educational simulations used as dynamic models of workplace activity allowing students to face authentic conditions and problem-solve just as their professional counterparts must. Students apply for their position based on their interests and skills, and perform tasks simulating experiments related to their assigned job. Students are immersed into the role of scientist/astronaut where they must rely on their fellow crew members to ensure the success of the mission. Depending on their position, students may be tasked with operating a robotic arm, conducting experiments in a glove box, facilitating mission timeline activities, recording and transferring data, navigating, and much more!


Cost:  $20 per student (includes transportation)

Register Online starting 09/08/22 - closes 09/27/22 at noon
What to Wear:  Full CHCA uniform; spirit wear not allowed. Closed-toe shoes.

What to Bring:  A packed lunch, drink and a snack, including any eating utensils. Drawstring bag to carry lunches and beverages.  Students will still attend last bell classes so bring musical instruments.

Chaperones:  Provided by accompanying teachers; no parent chaperones needed.

UE4 Great Parks Field Trip

Great Parks of Hamilton County, Shawnee Lookout

 

It's 1794 and there's conflict in the Ohio River Valley. UE 4 students and teachers turn their bus into a time machine and visit a frontier homestead in North Bend, Ohio to interact with historical characters and explore the turbulent times before Ohio’s statehood.

Students will:

     -  Meet and interact with at least 2 historical characters from Ohio’s frontier.

     -  Explore and identify three ways that Ohio’s pioneers alter the landscape of Ohio.

     -  Investigate the relationships between settlers and American Indians.


Cost:  $6 per student (includes transportation)

What to Wear:  Full CHCA uniform; spirit wear not allowed.

What to Bring:  A fully disposable lunch, drink and a snack.  No lunchboxes please.

Note: Students will attend last bell classes so should bring homework, instruments, etc.

Chaperones:  Provided by accompanying teachers; no parent chaperones needed.
