Montgomery Community Church (MCC) 

Today more and more communities are struggling with the word "Christmas." Where mangers once stood and carols were sung, Christ is continuing to be dropped in favor of "holiday" celebrations. This enlightening children's musical reaches directly to the heart of this matter, and from the voices of children comes the ultimate truth -- a Christmas without Jesus is like giving a present with no gift inside.

Appropriate for all ages 

Auditions for Character Roles and Dancers are Gr 3 only.
Gr 2-3 non-cast members participate in the choir/ensemble.

Important Dates

September 1, 2024: UltraCamp registration and Sign-Up Genius link are open for audition times (for Gr 3 families)

September 6, 2024: Parent Info Video Posted, 7:00 p.m.

September 16, 2024: Dance Workshop for students interested in a featured dancer role to learn the audition dance  @ EBL music room, 3:15 - 4:00 p.m.

September 17, 2024: Dance Choreography posted 

September 22, 2024: UltraCamp registration closes

September 23, 2024: Auditions (including Dance Auditions) – ten-minute time slots, four students per slot   @ EBL music room, 3:30 - 7:00 p.m.

September 27, 2024: Cast Announced  (via email, webpage, and outside Mrs. Rider’s classroom)  

October 7, 2024: First rehearsal @ EBL music room, 3:15 - 4:30 p.m.

December 4, 2024: Happy Gram online order deadline, 11:59 p.m.

December 20, 2024: Blu-Ray order deadline

Rehearsal Information

Mondays and Thursdays, October 7 - November 25, 2024 from 3:15 to 4:30 p.m. (except production week). Production week rehearsals run every day from December 2-6, 2024 during the school day.  
Rehearsals do not conflict with Melody Makers.  
Students should bring their own snack and water bottle to rehearsal and meet in the EBL music room directly after school. Snacks need to be nut-free and as non-messy as possible because they will be eating them in the music room.  
Carpool pickup is in the lower loop carpool. Students will be walked to the loop at 4:35, but parents can pick up students outside of the music room at 4:30.   Cast members are expected to be at all required rehearsals.  
If your student MUST miss a rehearsal (other than dates specified during your registration), you MUST notify the director at Emaline.rider@chca-oh.org and EBL.music@chca-oh.org BEFORE the fact. Multiple absences may jeopardize your student’s role even if they are prearranged and excused.

Parent Information

Parent Video: There will be a parent information video to go over important information and answer any questions you may have (see Important Dates).
Communication: During online registration, primary and secondary parent contact information is supplied. All important messages and parent communication will be communicated via email, so please check it frequently to stay informed!      
Show Fees: All expenses are paid by Friends of Fine Arts (FOFA). Thank you to everyone who donated to FOFA to support this and all other CHCA Arts programming! Students may be asked to supply basic costume pieces as well as personal makeup and shoes.  
Parent Volunteers: Parent support behind the scenes is critical for the success of any production. Please review the volunteer opportunities (see Links) and consider where you would like to serve, then commit using the Sign-Up Genius link (see Links). Mrs. Rider will send out this link via email after auditions.

Dress Code for Gr 2-3 Non-Cast Members  

Boys: Black or brown dress shoes; black, red, or green dress pants; a Christmas colored (green, red, black, white, silver, gold) button-down shirt or sweater. Christmas accessories are allowed if they are not huge or distracting.  
Girls: Black, silver, gold, red, or green dress shoes—flats preferable or short heels (1 inch or less); black dress pants or skirt that hits right above the knee or longer. If wearing a skirt, girls can wear tights or leggings that are black, gray, white, gold, silver, green, or red. Girls can also wear a Christmas dress that hits right above the knee or longer. Leggings and tights can also be worn with a dress. Christmas accessories are allowed if they are not huge or distracting.

2 Step Audition Sign-Up:

Register in UltraCamp (see Links).This single registration handles your Audition Request and Student Agreement.  
Choose audition slot via Sign-Up Genius (see Links). If you have time preferences, the quicker you sign up the more choices you will have.

Preparing for Auditions:

Mrs. Rider will walk all students through the audition process during class and review with parents during the Parent Info Video (see Important Dates).  
No memorization is needed! Resources to help with Audition Preparation are:

Acting: audition scenes in Links  
Dance: see “Dancer Info” (optional; for those interested)

Dancer Info:  

Choreographers are Ms. Wallace & Ms. Getter.  
Dancers will meet in the music room for rehearsals until Ms. Wallace or Ms. Getter comes to get them and brings them to the gym.  
Dancers should not be in the gym without a teacher. If there is no teacher in the gym, dancers must stay with Mrs. Rider in the music room.
