Closing

You will be notified of the plan via our phone messaging system (both a phone call & text) and the message will posted on the school’s website and on social media.

When CHCA is announced closed,

all CHCA campuses are closed (Check the website page pop and your message from the Head of School office.)
all extended care programs are cancelled
all after school activities are canceled unless you are notified otherwise
For Upper School, the block day that would have occurred on the closure will be repeated on the return day so no block day is skipped. For example, if Tuesday is a scheduled Block A day and we close on Tuesday, when school reopens on Wednesday, it will be a Block A day.

Athletics

Winter weather occasionally means adjustments to our game and practice schedules. In all situations, we first consider the safety of our players and spectators.

Gr K-6: If CHCA cancels school or dismisses early due to inclement weather, Gr K-6 team practices and games are cancelled as well.
Gr 7-12: If CHCA cancels school or dismisses early due to inclement weather, Gr 7-12 teams could still be allowed to practice or compete.
- School administration will gauge weather conditions and road safety nearer to practice/competition time and will then communicate with the head coach.
- If school has been cancelled and the administration allows practice to be held later that day, this practice is not mandatory.
- Coaches will notify families if practice will be held. It is always left to the parents’ discretion whether or not their child will attend.

CHCA's Phone Messaging System

We use the SchoolMessenger system to notify you of school delays and closings as well as periodic information and updates. One of the benefits of SchoolMessenger is that we can broadcast messages to multiple phone numbers and email addresses and also via text message*.

If any of your contact information changes, log in to the Veracross Parent Portal and use the Update Household Profile link to correct your information.
