Show Description
Show Description:
In the Puritan community of 1692 Salem, Massachusetts, a group of young girls are found dancing in the woods, and immediately fall ill. When no earthly cause can be determined, the citizens of Salem suspect that some more sinister force may be at hand. As long-held grudges turn to violent disputes, humiliating secrets are exposed and disseminated. The line between truth and pretense becomes increasingly blurry, and the citizens’ dogged determination to root out evil becomes more dangerous than the evil itself. When the burden of proof is invisible and the crime too terrible to name, everyone becomes a suspect and no one is safe. The Crucible, Arthur Miller’s remarkable 1953 play, remains as relevant as ever, and carries with it a stern warning: in every community torn by suspicion, the most dangerous threat may be the community itself.
Recommended for Grade 7 & up due to mature themes.
Information - Rehearsal & Parent
Rehearsal Information
- Summer rehearsal schedule varies around conflicts. School year rehearsals are generally Monday-Friday from 3:30 – 5:00/5:30 p.m. In the weeks preceding a performance, rehearsals increase in length and may include weekends. A rehearsal calendar is available within one week of casting.
- Cast and Student Production Team (SPT) members are expected to be at all required rehearsals.
- If you MUST miss a rehearsal (other than dates specified during your registration), you MUST notify director Mrs. Jung at Susan.Jung@chca-oh.org BEFORE the fact. Do not send messages with other cast members and/or friends as that method is unreliable. Multiple absences may jeopardize your role even if they are prearranged and excused.
- 09/11/17 - 09/14/17 - TECH WEEK - no conflicts allowed!
Parent Information
- During online registration, a primary parent email is supplied. As different from much CHCA communication, Upper School 9-12 theater parent communication is only coordinated through this one email address. All important messages will be communicated via email so please check it frequently to stay informed! Please add the theater email address to your contacts: CHCAHSTheatre@gmail.com
- Mandatory Show fees:
- Cast:
- $115.00 (Includes costume fee, tech week meals, snacks/water for pre-tech week, production t-shirt and cast party). Scheduled at time of registration.
- A $125 annual Fine Arts fee will be added to your first 2017-2018 CAST registration in an Upper School 9-12 theater production and helps cover CHCA overhead expenses.
- All cast members must sell 12 tickets total. Tickets will be ordered and tracked via SeatYourselfCHCA's online box office. Ticket purchases for student credit should be completed by Wednesday, 09/06/17. If the ticket sales requirement is not met by the deadline, you must agree to pay for unsold tickets up to 12 at the $10 rate.
- Production T-Shirt for Student Production Team (SPT) (optional): $16.00 register online by Thursday, 08/24/17 at noon
- SPT: $37.00 (highly encouraged but not required) Includes tech week meals and cast party - register online by Wednesday, 09/06/17 at 11:59 p.m.
- Cast:
- During online registration, you will schedule a future automatic payment that
will be deducted after the show is cast and the first rehearsal is
held. If your child is not cast, the Fine Arts Office will cancel
this registration and your scheduled payment.
- The first rehearsal will be held 08/10/17. Fees will be automatically deducted on 08/14/17.
- Parent Volunteer: At a minimum, we request at least one parent from each family help in some aspect of the pre-production and also on the production development team. You will complete an online Theater Parent Volunteer form during registration to choose work like sets, costumes, props, etc. and a shift during the production for concessions, box office or candy grams.
- Note: Fall Production Parent meeting - 08/21/17 at 6:00 p.m. in the Lindner Theater.
