What do we mean by “educating the whole child”?

You’ve probably heard the phrase “educating the whole child” before. Many fine schools use it to express their belief that learning means more than just providing an intellectual experience. Preparing students for the next grade, for college, and for adult life also requires building character, cultivating diverse talents and interests, and supporting students’ physical, emotional, and spiritual well-being. We couldn’t agree more.

But as a Christ-centered independent school, we also view “educating the whole child” as a special calling.

We make it our mission to help all our students—from preschool through grade 12—come to know themselves as distinct and unconditionally loved creations of God. Throughout your student’s years here, we encourage and support him as he explores his God-given talents; engages respectfully and productively with different viewpoints; and develops intellectual and spiritual resilience by wrestling with essential questions.

Through our intentional combination of college-preparatory academics, dynamic spiritual life, and numerous opportunities to travel, serve, and lead, we prepare your student to lean into life fully and joyously.
