Beak Squad Robotics - LE 3

Grade Levels: 3
Purpose: Through a series of story-based missions, student teams develop problem-solving, growth mindset, and creativity skills and implement the Engineering Design Process while learning to code.

Wonder League Robotics Competition (WLRC) uses Dash Robots to inspire an early love of coding, computer science, tangible learning, and STEAM  education.

With guidance from a volunteer parent facilitator, students collaborate with their “mini-team” of 3-4 students taking turns fulfilling responsibilities of programmer, designer, and documentor to successfully complete as many competition missions as possible.

We hope to increase cross campus virtual collaboration with the Armleder Gr 3-5 WLRC team again.
Months: June-July: CHCA Robotics & Engineering Summer Camps (Optional)
September: Team Launch/Pre-Season Practices
October - January: Competition Season
February - March: Post-Season Invitational Submissions (If qualify)
Schedule:

We believe that CHCA students should have opportunity to explore and
develop all of their God-given gifts and interests. With this intention, we schedule Gr 3 Robotics to avoid as many conflicts as possible. When students have a scheduling conflict, we tend to defer them to the other activity in lieu of Robotics.

September - December: Mondays & Wednesdays - 3:15-4:15 p.m.
Mid-January through March: TBD if advancing to Post-Season Invitational
“Awards Showcase”
TBD Post-Season:  Pizza dinner & awards followed by students presenting their work to their families.

Practice Location: EBL Technology & Robotics Lab (E110)
Cost:

$150 (includes equipment, Team t-shirt and “Showcase” pizza & awards)

  • CHCA Fingerprinting is required for all adult volunteers.
  • Parents will use TeamSnap for scheduling, attendance, and
    general communication
    • TeamSnap is a free app which shares practice scheduling & attendance in addition to enabling safe & secure communication between coach & adults of team members.
    • Within 48 hours of UltraCamp registration, the primary contact will receive an emailed invitation to join the EBL Beak Squad TeamSnap.
Notes:
  • Students should bring their own peanut-free snack and water bottle to each practice (water only).
  • While we look forward to having fun and building friendships, this after-school activity is just like any other competitive team/sport requiring regular attendance at practices where members focus on trying and learning new things, collaborating and compromising with their assigned team-mates, and maintaining a positive attitude and growth mindset.
  • Sponsor must be notified at the beginning of the season of activity scheduling conflicts.  Multiple absences without prior notice may jeopardize a student’s participation on the team.  Team Practice Schedule & Attendance will be via TeamSnap.
