Each year, since the beginning of our school, we designate a week in the spring as Spiritual Life Emphasis Week (SLEW), typically the week before Easter break.  The week has multiple chapels and often a guest speaker from outside the school.   To Read More, Click on the Title.

Spiritual Life Emphasis Week is April 15-18.  There will be regular bells that week, but we will have chapel during SDL.

Grade 8 Dance:  Thursday, 05/30/19 from 7:00-10:00 p.m. High School Gym

If you are interested in helping with the dance, please email Mrs. Metzger.  Set-up is much less of a commitment than the Christmas Dance.

NJHS sponsoring a pizza party for the SDL who brings in the most Easter Egg Hunt supplies for Stewart Elementary hunt. Looking for plastic eggs, wrapped candy, small toys/novelties that would fit in the eggs. Items due by Tuesday, 04/16/19.

ERB testing will take place each morning Tuesday, 04/30 through Thursday, 05/02. It is important that students are in attendance these days. Testing will begin each morning at 8:00 a.m. We will then run classes on a 2-hour delay schedule once tests conclude. There will be no SDL on those days.

Are you feeling tired? The next Leaning Eagle Mini-Cup Coffee Bar will be Wednesday, 04/24/19 before school, lunch and during SDL.  Serving MSL Leaning Eagle Coffee Drinks, hot chocolate, lemonade, nd fresh baked goods.  Items range from $1-3 per item.

Rummage Sale

Spring Cleaning? We would love to take your donations for the 2019 SOS Rummage Sale! We are raising money for H20 for Life Schools. Please drop off all donations at the MSL High School on the following dates: 4/14/19 from 1pm – 4pm, and 4/23/19 – 4/26/19 before and after school. We welcome children’s toys and clothing, furniture, household, lawn, tools, sports equipment, luggage, etc. We cannot accept old televisions or broken items. Questions? Email Barb Holthaus. Understanding Grade 9-12 Service Hour Requirements: Service Immersions


Inclusive to the 120 hours of community service required for graduation, students are to complete two service immersion experiences, one of which must be a CHCA Upper School 9-12 Service Immersion. Service immersions are extended service-learning experiences in marginalized communities, and are most often associated with trips. On a service immersion, students not only participate in daily volunteer work, but they also participate in intentional living and learning experiences which build community, promote social justice, and spiritual growth. Students are to complete one service immersion project by the end of their sophomore year and a second by the end of the first semester of their senior year. Non-CHCA service immersions must be pre-approved by the Outreach/SOS office. We offer several experiences that are no cost.  Students who attend CHCA for their senior year only are not required to complete a service immersion. Students who attend for 2 ½ years or more are required to complete 2 service immersions. More information about community service requirements can be found here.

This week's Beacons of the Week are the faculty, staff, parents, and students who helped to make CHCA's first ever Food Symposium a success! A special shout out to CHCA seniors, Douglas Hansford and Sydney Sauer, for helping above and beyond in multiple ways. Thanks to Becki Droege for organizing the expo hall, Natalie McSwain for creating a beautiful chocolate tasting, and Emily Rempe for organizing the food truck rally. Senior Megan Peck did a fantastic job overseeing the coffee bar during the event, and seniors Chanse Ashman and Aaron Frank helped set up and tear down. Special thanks to Kim Vincent, who was instrumental in organizing the speaker green room, making t-shirts, mugs, and canvas bags. Behind the scenes, Jane Haslem and Debbie Shear were wonderful in designing the website, Jennifer Murphy did a great job promoting the event, and Ashley Carter and Julie Carnes helped immensely with various planning and logistics.  Many more faculty participated, and students, staff, and parents volunteered. And of course, The Food Symposium would not be what it was without the inspiration and planning of CHCA faculty Stephen Carter. A full feature on this event will be shared this upcoming week. Until then, well done to all involved.

Thursday, 04/25/19, is Faculty Appreciation Day (FAD)!  PTF will be catering lunch for all staff. We need parent donations for desserts and drinks (water, flavored water, sodas). You can drop off your donations at carpool on Thursday, 04/25/19, or send it in with your student. A monetary donation can be made, payable to PTF. Please send it to your child's teacher, or the building admins by Friday, 04/19/19.
