Spring Reminders for Seniors

Seniors: Please turn in copies of any scholarships you have earned to your college counselor. We want to know of all scholarships, even if they are from schools you are not attending!

Also, go into Naviance and update your portal with college decisions and where you decide to matriculate!


Junior Parent Coffee 04/02/19

Junior Parents, do you have questions about the college application process next fall and what will be expected of your student?  Please join the US College Counselors for coffee and bagels next week; we’ll answer your questions and help ease any fears you may have! Event will be held in the MSL Cafeteria from 8:30- 9:30 a.m. on Tuesday April 2nd.

Get yourself organized before school by getting the bulk of your applications completed, and getting essays reviewed by college admissions professionals and much more! Dates are August 1,5,6 from 3:30-6:00 p.m. Registration is live on UltraCamp!


Sophomore Meeting Sign-Ups are Live!

Sophomore meetings are winding down, if you haven't signed up yet, last chance!

Sign up for Sophomore Family Meetings! Your college counselor will go over the results of the Strong Interest Inventory with College Profile, and engage your student in the Skill Scan.  

If you go to the myCHCA  Upper School Counseling page on the website and scroll down, you will see a button for Pick-A-Time.  https://www.chca-oh.org/my-upper-school/my-counseling Please sign up for your family meeting here.  The meeting will last approximately forty-five minutes to an hour and students are responsible for any work should they miss class. We recommend speaking with your student regarding their class schedule and sign up for a meeting during their PRT. This meeting is for students and their parent(s). If there is not a time available that will work for you, please contact your counselor directly.  She might be able to find a time that will work for everyone.

LEAP PSAT Tutoring

LEAP is starting tutoring  PSAT prep for the Fall 2019 PSAT-NMSQT. Any rising juniors who feel they could be in the running for National Merit, this could be a helpful program to give your scores that final boost. LEAP Free Diagnostic ACT 4/13/19

LEAP is offering a free ACT diagnostic test 4/13/19 from 8:30 a.m.- 12:00 p.m. and is open to current juniors and sophomores. Students may only take one free diagnostic test through LEAP. Register here

Part-time Seasonal Lifeguards Wanted!

The City of Blue Ash is hiring lifeguards for the upcoming season. Lifeguards must hold current certifications through the American Red Cross in Lifeguarding, CPR-AED for lifeguards and the ability to work weekends April through September. Seasonal Part-time Tennis Assistants Needed

City of Blue Ash Recreation Center is looking for seasonal part-time tennis assistants. Employees would be expected to aid full-time tennis staff, assist with lessons, assist with court prep, events and programs, and more. Applicants should have a minimum of 2 years of tennis training/experience. Racquet stringing experience is helpful but not required.

Accounting Careers Awareness Program- Ohio

​The Accounting Careers Awareness Program (ACAP-Ohio) is a week-long program for racially and ethnically underrepresented high school students interested in exploring careers in accounting and business. Program runs 06/09-06/14/19 at the Ohio State University and all expenses are paid! Visit www.ohiocpa.com/ACAP for more information and to apply. Application deadline is 03/31/2019. Transcripts and letter of recommendation are required.

We will periodically spotlight different ones on the CHCA Upper School Counseling News Online page, but for a comprehensive list, go to Naviance!


Learn Arabic at UC!

The Summer Arabic Language Program for Beginners will be at University of Cincinnati June 17-July 12 running from 9:00 a.m.- 3:30 p.m. daily. This program is 100% funded!!! Students must be a current senior, rising senior or rising junior with a minimum GPA of 3.5. At the completion of the course, students will have earned 5 hours of college credit. Abbreviation Finder Scholarship

The Abbreviation Finder Scholarship is a merit-based scholarship of USD $7,500 awarded to a high school senior who has demonstrated outstanding achievement, participation and leadership in school activities and work experience. College students are also eligible to apply.

Christ Hospital Junior Ambassador Summer Program

Interested in volunteering at a hospital? Christ Hospital hosts the Junior Ambassador Program. Students must be 16-17 years of age and be able to commit to volunteering for 2 months (minimum of 40 hours). Applications are due by 04/30/19 and the application and other requirements can be found here (under the How to Get Started tab).
