Sacred Music Concert

The annual US 9-12 Sacred Music Concert will be held on 12/09/18 at 7:00 p.m. at the beautiful St. Francis Xavier Church, 611 Sycamore Street, 45202. This concert is an opportunity for our entire school community to worship together and is free and open to the public. Please invite family and friends to join us as we prepare our hearts during this Advent season with sacred music performed by the US 9-12 Symphony Orchestra, Concert Band, Steel Drum Band, Encore, and Concert Choir. What a privilege we have to worship and praise our Lord in this sacred space.

Otterbein University Concert Choir and Hosting Opportunity

All are invited to the Otterbein University Concert, hosted by Sara Potts at her church (Sharonville UMC) on Friday, 12/07/18 at 7:30 p.m.  It will be a lovely concert and it's FREE!  Take a close look at the middle of the photo on the poster and you may see a familiar face – Samantha Stacy '14 graduated from Otterbein last May, but she made the poster.

Hospitality opportunity:  If you are interested in hosting Otterbein students for a homestay that evening, it simply involves taking 2, 3 or 4 students home for the evening, letting them sleep somewhere comfortable, providing a shower and some breakfast, then returning them to Sharonville UMC on Saturday morning.  Homestays are always one of the best parts of college choir tours, which provide some great connections and sometimes even greater stories!  Please let Sara Potts know if you would be willing to host!

Summers Gallery of Advanced Placement Fine Art

Image

The Summers Gallery of Advanced Placement Fine Art was formally dedicated Friday, 11/16/18, at a gathering of alumni exhibiting artists, families, and friends.  Long a vision of US 9-12 Art teacher Tim Hilderbrand, this gallery now is a reality with a permanent home in the two stairwells of the Lindner Theater lobby.  Be sure to stop by and enjoy this collection of fine art.

Alumni News – Jonah Gardner

We caught up with Jonah Gardner '14 at the dedication of the Summers Gallery, which included a piece of his artwork.  Best of luck to Jonah who has an internship with the luxury car company Genesis in Frankfurt, Germany.  For the next six months, Jonah will be working on exterior car design, after which he plans to finish his remaining semester at Cleveland Institute of Art.  Congratulations Jonah!  https://www.linkedin.com/in/jonah-gardner-design/

It was a successful Black Friday for Charlie Andrews '14 as he welcomed the crowds at the Grand Opening of Badges Drum Shop, his new venture in downtown Mason.  A former drummer for our Electric Jazz Orchestra, Charlie's passion led him to open the city's single "drums only" instrument store.  Private lessons are also available. Congratulations Charlie!

Congratulations to sixth grader Caroline Blair who is cast in Cincinnati Ballet's production of The Nutcracker (Party Boy) this season.  Caroline was one of only a dozen or so students who made it from programs outside of the Cincinnati Ballet and she credits her experience at CHCA Dance Academy, and the support of the CHCA dance family for that.  Initially her family chose the dance program for her as a way for her to meet other students in kindergarten. As Caroline has grown more passionate about dancing, it has become a huge blessing to the whole family, who wish to thank Melissa Kidd, Judy McCreary, and Teresa Hoyer for being mentors to Caroline.  Come out and support Caroline at one of the following Nutcracker performances:  12/15/18 at 2:00 p.m., 12/16 at 6:30 p.m., 12/20 at 7:30 p.m., 12/21 at 7:30 p.m., 12/22 at 2:00 p.m., 12/23 at 6:30 p.m., and 12/24 at 1:00 p.m.  For tickets and more information, click here.
