SOS Shantytown Was a Big Success:

Seventeen students and faculty participated in our annual event to learn about homelessness in our city. This year's Shantytown combined with SOS team H20 for Life. Students heard from Dr. Savage about global and local water issues, took a water walk in Sharon Woods, and heard from a person who was formerly homeless from the Greater Cincinnati Coalition for the Homeless. The group built shanties and slept outside to deepen their empathy and understanding. Special thanks to Dr. Savage for speaking, and to Mr. Salkil, and Mr. Turvey who spent the night with us!

Armleder Lacrosse:

SOS is excited to announce that one of our leaders, Rhian Solomon, is beginning a lacrosse clinic for girls at Armleder on 10/30/18.  High school volunteers will travel down to Armleder weekly after school on Tuesdays to build growth, teamwork, and spirituality among the girls participating.  For more information on getting involved, stop by the SOS room.

One-Day Service Immersion Over Fall Break:

A Cincinnati Service Immersion will be happening on Friday, 10/26/18 from 8:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m. Students will serve, learn, and have fun with those in need in a way that will deepen their faith and commitment to serve others.  Students can earn seven hours of direct service in the city.  An application can be found in the SOS room and are due by Monday, 10/22/18.

Please join us for Priscilla Shirer's "Gideon". The study will encourage you to recognize your weakness as they key that the Lord gives you to unlock the full experience of His strength in your life. Instead of ignoring, neglecting, or trying to escape your weakness, learn to see them as gifts given specifically and strategically by God. Please purchase books prior to our first study through Amazon or Lifeway.  The study will run every week on Mondays from 8:35 - 10:00 a.m.  Dates for the study are:   October 15 & 22, November 5, 12, 19 & 26 and December 3 & 10.  Please contact Blake Thompson for location and more information if you are interested. blakelthompson@gmail.com
