What an incredible year we’ve had so far in CHCA Athletics!  Our athletic department, coaches, student athletes, and families are excited and inspired by the progress made on the fields, courts, and in the lives of our student athletes.  The countless hours devoted to practice, games, and skill development from athletes, coaches and our performance training staff have yielded remarkable results for our Eagles in their pursuit of excellence.  To read more, click on the title.

The Leadership Spotlight shines on students and parents who have been servant leaders in transporting instruments and supplies for the music program. Special thanks to students Emani Figgins, Rayne Summers, Aniya Jenkins, Joi Burton, Bin-II Smoot, Sydney Clutter, Imani Ward, and parents Marsha and Derrick Jenkins who have been willing to help load and unload musical instruments for concerts and programs. Many hands make light work!

Remember to post on the Armleder Facebook page how your family is creating win-win situations! Use the #AHAH! to enter your family into a raffle. The fifth challenge runs 05/04/2018-05/17/2018. This habit is “Seek first to understand then to be understood.” Email Joel.Rhodes@chca-oh.org for more questions.

Habit 5 is Seek First to Understand Then be Understood --listen first, talk second. Too often instead of really listening, we are busy forming our response in our mind. This Habit is about not just hearing with our ears but looking at body language with our eyes and using our hearts as well. We listen to understand who that person is, how they feel about something, and how they view the world.

Ethnomusicologist Dr. Craig Woodson presented “A World Orchestra you can build” as part of Armleder’s Artist in Residence Program. First, students were taught about various instruments from around the world and showed just how simple it is to create their own. Then, they participated in workshops where Dr. Woodson guided them through building their own instruments. Students made drums, shakers, trumpets, and guitars. At the end of the day, all the students played their instruments in one big world music ensemble! Special thanks to Chris Cavaliere for photographing the day and to the Friends of Fine Arts for partnering with Armleder to provide this outstanding experience for our students! #gochca #chcaarts #chcaarmleder https://chca.smugmug.com/CHCA-2017-18/Armleder-Campus/Artist-in-Residence/

Would you support SpringHill’s mission with your gift of hospitality the week of 07/09/18 when CHCA hosts SpringHill camp at MCC? SpringHill counselors are responsible, wonderful college students who commit their summers traveling week-to-week to different locations with the mission of positively influencing young lives with the Word of God.  Host organizations find host homes to provide lodging for the counselors who are very self-sufficient, provide their own transportation, can provide air mattresses, and have dinner plans for all but two evenings. Please email CHCA’s Summer Programs Coordinator Sharon Frankart with any questions or to express interest.
