What is the ISP Summer Academy?

This 10 day orientation prior to the first day of school is required for all new international students. You will learn and practice the basics of thriving in an American classroom, strengthen your history and writing skills, explore Cincinnati, and make many new friends.

Summer Academy costs are in addition to tuition. Students are housed with their host family or private guardian and all meals are provided.

Can ISP students obtain a driver’s license?

When do I arrive and depart for the school year?

Dates are typically established for the upcoming school year in spring. For 2019-2020:

New international students: Arrive 08/10/19 to attend the ten day orientation
Returning international students: Arrive 08/18/19
School starts: Wednesday, 08/21/19
Christmas Break: All international students are required to return home for Christmas Break. The International Student Director must approve each student's travel itinerary by 10/01.

The International Student Director must confirm all travel plans and arrival/departure dates prior to booking flights and once plans are confirmed, a copy of the travel itinerary must be provided to the school.

Where do international students live while studying at CHCA?

Our international students live in a homestay model with carefully selected host families. We find that living with host families provides a greater opportunity for students to fully experience life in the U.S. and all that CHCA has to offer. This model provides care and comfort that helps students succeed academically in our rigorous college-prep curriculum and share experiences necessary to become a successful, high quality student at the university level and beyond.

Can I live with a relative in the area?

Yes. International students may live with a direct family member in the Cincinnati area when approved by the International Program Department. Hosting family must be U.S. citizens or provide proof of legal permanent U.S. residence at application, then provide proof of guardianship prior to the start of school and verified each year after. Email international@chca-oh.org for more details.

How do I secure my student's placement?

Does CHCA offer financial assistance?

What are the types of enrollment?

There are three ways that students are enrolled in the CHCA International Program:

Host Program: Students enroll directly with the school and live with a host family
Private Guardian: Students enroll directly with the school and live with a parent or direct relative
Agency-Placed: Students work with an approved placement agency

Please email international@chca-oh.org with specific information about pricing and what is included for each type of enrolled student.

How is tuition paid and when is it due?

What if I change my mind? Can I receive a refund?

No. All fees, deposits, and tuition payments are non-refundable and contracts become binding, requiring full payment, after 06/15.

Any cancellation of enrollment prior to 06/15 must be made in writing to the International Admissions office and confirmed as received by an Admissions employee. (Application fees and deposits are not refundable even if contract is cancelled prior to 06/15.)
