Why should your kids get to do all the learning? Our students get exposure to challenging Biblical teaching on a daily basis. If you’ve ever wanted to delve deeper into the Bible the way your kids do, join MSL HS Principal Dean Nicholas for an informative and thought-provoking look at the stories that shape our faith (and some you may never have heard before).
Dr. Nicholas spent eleven years teaching high school Christian Studies classes at CHCA before being named principal, and continues to teach an “Israel in the World” honors class. His degrees tell you a bit about his background: a BA in theological studies and ancient languages, an MA in the Old Testament (both from Wheaton College) plus a master’s in Hebrew and a Ph. D. in the Bible and Ancient Near East (both from Hebrew Union College). This breadth of knowledge means Dr. Nicholas is able to share the historical context of events that happened long ago but still have meaning for our lives today. Plus, having taken multiple trips to Israel, he can add geographic texture and help us understand the culture.
The Principal’s Study is open to all parents (not just parents of high school students) and will meet on Thursdays from 9:45 – 11:15 a.m. Check in at the High School Office then proceed to the Lindner Theater. Bring your Bible; preparation is encouraged but not required. In 2012-2013, we will tackle the theme of Creation in Scripture. We may shift topics for more or less time as we move along, based on interest. But for now, here’s the plan.
