Christian Worldview

CHCA is a non-denominational school that places Christ in the center of all we do. Our focus is on the core essentials of historic Christianity. And while doctrinal distinctives may be discussed and studied in age-appropriate ways, those conclusions are left to families and their own particular faith communities. At the root of our faith is the belief that God is a personal God who reveals to humanity His nature, purpose in history, and love for all creation. It is our conviction that in understanding God we come to understand our nature and purpose, for we are created in God’s image. At the center of our faith is the crucified and risen Jesus Christ and our belief that the “son of God became a man so that humanity could become children of God” (C.S. Lewis, Mere Christianity).

Given this core, we seek to create an environment in which we listen to God speak to us today through the words of Scripture and the historic voices of our faith, to nurture the image of God in each student, to give students an appreciation for the diversity found within the Church universal, and to help students form a worldview which has Christ as its foundation.

This overarching vision is accomplished academically in the classroom and experientially in weekly chapels and an extensive outreach program.

This three-fold focus—the classroom, chapel and outreach—creates a well-rounded environment for studying and growing in faith. Academically, CHCA integrates faith and Scripture into the entire curriculum. We examine and investigate the works of God and His purposes in all academic disciplines. While our purpose and vision is uniform PK-12, the material is presented in an age-appropriate manner, building on prior knowledge. Following Cornelius Plantinga’s Engaging God’s World, when investigating any topic at CHCA, we consider the categories of universal human hope and longing, God’s creation, the Fall, redemption through Christ, and finding a vocation in which we can participate in God’s Kingdom work in the world. In this way, we hope to bring all things we do here under the authority of Christ.
