Curriculum

A plan for excellence at every age

From preschool to senior year, CHCA’s curriculum is designed to immerse students in an academically excellent, Christ-centered environment. Whatever the subject, the top priority for student learning is understanding with a Christian worldview, so our benchmarked curriculum and thematic units teach material in a way that surrounds content with a larger theme to pique interest and aid comprehension. What’s more, teachers employ a number of assessment tools, allowing students to express their grasp of a topic in a variety of ways not limited to paper and pencil. Measurable learning is a vital part of how we monitor student progress, but now there’s more to measurement than a grade on a multiple-choice test.

CHCA updates its instructional approaches, curriculum content and pedagogy based on the finest in research and the Standards Movement. We now use the Common Core Standards in math and English language arts as well as State of Ohio and National Standards in content areas such as science, social studies, physical education, health, world languages, and technology aided learning. CHCA faculty and administrators monitor what is educationally sound to bring the finest to our students as they prepare for lives of Christian Leadership in the 21st century.

A third grader doesn’t learn the same way a sophomore does, so why should their curriculum be the same? CHCA’s programming is tailored to each stage of a child’s development.

  • The SoaringStart Preschool programs (at both EBL Elementary and the Armleder School) are designed to instill a love of learning in each child by meeting their cognitive, language, social, physical, emotional, creative and spiritual needs, thus providing an excellent foundation for the formal learning experiences ahead.
  • The curriculum for our elementary grades (K Prep-4) vertically builds skills and concepts in each content area, set in an active and supportive learning environment.
  • The curriculum for the middle grades (5-8) aligns in each content area to previous learning and readies students to advance in concepts and skills uniquely suited to middle school learners.
  • At Martha S. Lindner High School, students prepare for their futures in college and beyond by developing their many personal strengths through challenging academics (including an array of AP courses), spiritual development, physical and social growth opportunities and enriching extracurriculars.
