For this unique and memorable social for middle school and Armleder 8th graders on November 16th, we'll travel to Tri-county mall in groups of 3-6 students, looking for at least ten “incognito” teachers who are scattered throughout the mall. Points will then be awarded when groups find a teacher, and afterwards we'll gather back at the middle school to share our stories and give out prizes to the top ten groups. This is always one of the highlights of eighth grade ... so you don't want to miss it!

Details

Basic Information
The cost of this social is $10/student and includes a prize for students in the top ten groups.  Drop-off/check-in (5:45pm) and pick-up (10pm) are both at the middle school gym.  Students may purchase food and merchandise at the mall, but should avoid stores that contain inappropriate items (i.e. Spencer Gifts, Hot Topic, etc).  Students must stay with their assigned group/chaperone at all times, must adhere to the mall's Code of Conduct, and are solely responsible for all belongings that they choose to bring to this social.  The competition is designed to be as fair and bias-free as possible, but nevertheless students and parents should focus on having fun together (not on "winning" or "getting stuff").

What to Wear
Wear comfortable and appropriate clothes (crew-neck t-shirts/sweatshirts, jeans/shorts, etc), but avoid sleeveless shirts, shorter-than-fingertip shorts, skirts, or "fashion" outfits. Students who are not dressed appropriately will not be checked-in or admitted to the social until they have changed into appropriate clothes. Just remember, modest is hottest!

The Groups
We’ll assign groups of 3-6 students based on seatbelt availability and friend requests.  To make your friend request (and up to two backup friend requests), just fill out the applicable fields on your registration form and we’ll try our best to group you together with one of those students. We can’t guarantee a match, as lining up so many students in dozens of cars (especially if we are short on seatbelts) is a very complex process, and preference will be given to families who volunteer to chaperone. In most cases, "arranged" cars do not work out as expected, simply because there are other students in your grade who unexpectedly request to be with students in that same car (and we, of course, will honor those friend requests as well) ... so please don't develop specific expectations until the group assignments are emailed out (to the email address on your registration form) the day before the social. Thanks!

Parent Volunteers
Each group of students will need one parent chaperone to transport them to and from the mall and to accompany them the entire time as they search for teachers.  Volunteering is also a great chance to connect with other CHCA parents and observe the students interacting in a casual and fun environment, so if you'd like to help, just indicate your interest on your online registration form or contact Lance Webel.  Thanks so much ... we literally couldn't do it without you!
