TAILGATE TIME! It’s everyone’s favorite part of football season – the tailgate party! CHCA is welcoming all families to join us on the MSL HS grounds two hours before kickoff at every home game this season. Bring your own chairs, drinks and something to share – there will be a grill available for you to use. Upcoming dates:
September 2*: Madeira vs. CHCA – tailgate 5:30-7:00
September 9: Lexington Christian vs. CHCA – tailgate 5:30; kickoff at 7:30
See you there – go Eagles! Questions? Contact Kristin Schwabe at ohiokrs@hotmail.com.
*New families – Admissions is hosting a special tailgate party for you on September 2 in the theater commons. More info here.
THE PRINCIPAL’S STUDY: A monthly Bible study will be led by MSL HS Principal Dr. Dean Nicholas for all parents in the CHCA community (not just HS parents). It will meet the second Thursday of each month at 9:30 a.m. in the HS Office area. Our first meeting will be September 8 and we will discuss our course of study for the year. Bring your Bible!
NEW DATE – SEE YOU AT THE POLE: All four buildings will be holding See You at the Pole prayer services on September 28 this year, not September 21 as previously printed on the school calendar. To find out what time your student can participate in SYATP activities, visit the calendar page.
HOMECOMING: Fall, football and food – the atmosphere at the Homecoming Picnic and football game is something you don’t want to miss. Come have a great (and inexpensive!) dinner with us, enjoy entertainment by some of our high school performing groups, and then take your CHCA spirit to the stands as we cheer the Eagles on to victory. Reserve your spot online – contact Tracy Wolcott with questions.
VOLUNTEER WITH US: Want to get connected at CHCA? Want to get to know your child’s friends and their parents while serving at fun events and assisting our faculty and staff? Volunteer! We’ve got opportunities for every schedule and talent, and you can sign up online. E-mail Julie.Carnes@chca-oh.org with questions.
FALL FESTIVAL: It’s almost here – a great afternoon of food, games, prizes, rides and a dazzling spectrum of spray-painted hair: the annual CHCA Fall Festival is Friday, September 23. Find all the info you need to serve with us, get tickets, buy t-shirts, or donate items to the cakewalk on the Fall festival webpage.
CHCA MOMS: Come pray with us! Replace your anxiety and fear with peace and hope by praying with other moms. Moms in Touch gathers moms together to pray specifically and scripturally for our children and schools. CHCA has two Moms in Touch prayer groups each open to moms from all campuses. The Moms in Touch prayer time is committed to last no more than 1 hour. Additional information about Moms in Touch can be found at www.momsintouch.org.

THANKS, RILEY’S! At our all-employee opening meeting on August 18, all faculty and staff were treated to a delicious box lunch donated by Rileys Restaurant in Springdale. (Riley’s is owned by Ken and Gloria Riley, parents to CHCA junior James Riley.) Thanks!
WE WANT YOU TO BE A CELEBRATION COMMITTEE MEMBER! The biennial Celebration dinner and auction is not just a great evening, it’s also a lot of fun to plan and organize. We need people to serve on a variety of committees, from item acquisition to decorating. Find out more about Celebration and committee opportunities and contact Julie Carnes if you have questions or are ready to sign up.
SAVE YOUR SHOEBOXES, KIDS MEAL TOYS AND HOTEL SOAP BARS! These items can be used in the Operation Christmas Child collection which will take place in November. If you have any extra shoeboxes or collected items to share, please send them to the SOS room at the high school.
PRESIDENTIAL SERVICE AWARD: It’s that time again! With the beginning of a new school year comes a new opportunity to log on to the Presidential Service Awards website and keep tally of your service hours for the purpose of earning a bronze, silver, or gold award from the President! The minimum amount of service for the bronze award is 100 hours in a 12-month time period (for high school ages; less than 100 if you are younger). If that is your goal, please follow the instructions to get signed up and connected with our CHCA Outreach account. At the end of the school year, the Outreach department will order the award you qualify for and present it to you in a special ceremony. Please contact the Outreach Office if you have any questions!
SCRIP SHOP NEWS: SCRIP (School Cost Reduction Incentive Program) is a great fundraiser that benefits both you and the school! We have over 80 retailers on hand for your daily shopping needs including Kroger, Meijer, bigg’s, Lowe’s, Macy’s, Starbucks, Panera, Chipotle, Speedway and more. ADHD SEMINAR: The Middle School Student Support Program would like to invite any parent of a 5th-8th grader (as well as current 4th and 9th grade parents) to attend a seminar on ADHD and Executive Function: Promoting Consistent Behaviors at Home. ADHD is a weakness in Executive Function, the skills that allow us to plan, execute, and complete tasks. This program speaks to working strategically with your child at home while partnering with the school for greater academic success. Examples of topics covered are: getting your child up and out in the morning, making sure homework is returned to school, dealing with forgetfulness, and fostering compliance with rules. This seminar is being offered to us by Springer School and Center and will be presented by Mary Anne Mulcahey.
Date: Tuesday, September 20
Time: 7:00 pm in the Middle School Band Room
